Mauritius has opened its borders for international tourists from all over the world on 15 July 2021 but still, there are some travel restrictions and Covid-19 protocols which you have to follow if you are planning to go to Mauritius..
Who is allowed to travel to Mauritius?
Anyone who is fully vaccinated and has got the 2nd dose of their vaccine prior to 14 days of their arrival date can now enter Mauritius, However, tourists from Brazil and South Africa are not allowed to enter or transit through Mauritius..
Requirements to enter Mauritius as a tourist?
If you want to go to Mauritius as a tourist then you need to secure the following documents which are given below -
- Your Passport with validity of at least 6 months, with 2 empty pages
- Covid-19 RTPCR test negative report (taken no longer than 72 hours)
- COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival..
- Accommodation Bookings for vaccinated Passengers - Passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival must have a confirmed accommodation reservation booked at https://mauritiusnow.com/where-to-stay-in-mauritius/
- Accommodation Bookings for Unvaccinated Passengers - Passengers without a COVID-19 vaccination certificate must have a confirmed accommodation reservation booked at https://mauritiusnow.com/where-to-stay-in-mauritius/ and are subject to quarantine for 14 days.
Mauritius is opening in 2 stages for Foreign Tourist
First Stage of Reopening of Mauritius (From 15 July to 30 September 2021)
Vaccinated Guests -
As a vaccinated guest in Mauritius, you have to book your holiday in a certified Covid-19 safe resort, and also you can enjoy all the resort facilities like swimming pools, bars, beaches..
And you will have to undergo a PCR test on your arrival day in Mauritius and on days 7th and 14th of your stay.
After your last Covid-19 test, which will be conducted on the 14th day of your stay in your Resort, if your result will be negative then you will be free to go and explore the islands of Mauritius..
But until the report of your 14th-day covid test doesn't come out, you have to stay under the boundaries of your certified resort, and you can't go out of the resort for 14days after your arrival. It is not like a quarantine because you can roam in your resort and also you can enjoy the beach..
And you will have to undergo a PCR test on your arrival day in Mauritius and on days 7th and 14th of your stay.

Unvaccinated Tourists are not allowed In the first stage of the reopening of Mauritius and only unvaccinated Mauritian Nationals are allowed -
Unvaccinated guests (Only Mauritian National) have to Book a 14-day quarantine room including meals and transfers in an officially designated hotel..
Unvaccinated guests will be required to stay in their hotel room for 14 days and you can not even come out from your room to eat your meals and meals will be delivered to your room, which means you will have to face a 14days quarantine..
Same as vaccinated tourists, Unvaccinated guests will also undergo a PCR test on the day they arrive in Mauritius and on days 7th and 14th day of their stay..
And after your Covid-19 test on your 14th day of the quarantine, if your result will be negative then you can come out from your quarantine room and you can go back to your home or you can move to any other accommodation easily..
Unvaccinated guests will be required to stay in their hotel room for 14 days and you can not even come out from your room to eat your meals and meals will be delivered to your room, which means you will have to face a 14days quarantine..
Same as vaccinated tourists, Unvaccinated guests will also undergo a PCR test on the day they arrive in Mauritius and on days 7th and 14th day of their stay..

Second Stage of Reopening of Mauritius (From 1 October 2021 Onwards)
Vaccinated Guests -
Starting 1 October 2021, Mauritius will be fully open for vaccinated tourists without any 14days stay at any certified resort, means Mauritius will be fully open for fully vaccinated tourist and you can explore all of their islands!
But you have to book a accommodation before coming to Mauritius as a proof that where you are going to stay in Mauritius and you can freely explore their all islands and their attractions throughout your holiday
However, you must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure, and also you have to show them the proof of your vaccination..
Unvaccinated Tourists (Everyone will be allowed)
Unvaccinated tourists can enter Mauritius from 1 October but unlike the vaccinated tourist can come and roam without any quarantine, Unvaccinated travelers need to book a 14-day quarantine room including meals and transfers in an officially designated hotel and unvaccinated tourists will be required to stay in a hotel room for 14 days and meals will be delivered to your room, means you cant come out of your room even to eat your meals..
Also, Unvaccinated tourists will need to follow the old protocol of undergoing a PCR test on their arrival day and on days 7 and 14, and after you get a negative PCR test report on day 14th, then you can freely explore the island and move to any other different accommodation or can go home..
Approved Vaccines in Mauritius -
Approved Vaccines in Mauritius are Astra Zeneca (Covishield and Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinovac, Sinopharm, and Sputnik-V..
These vaccines are approved in Mauritius so if you are vaccinated from one of these vaccines then you can easily go to Mauritius without any quarantine..
